Operatic coloratura soprano who sang in the Bel Canto style and played the title role in Alcina in 1960.
She went to London to pursue her music career after winning Australia's Sun Aria.
She was honored as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1961.
She married Richard Bonynge on October 16, 1954.
She and Eileen Farrell were both great sopranos.
