Though he also pursued a career as a singer, songwriter, and jazz musician, this Englishman is most famous as the author of the popular Jimmy Coates series of children's thriller novels.

After earning a philosophy degree from Emmanuel College, Cambridge, he began writing musical scores for television shows and stage plays.

His debut solo album, The Songman & Me, Vol. 1, was released in 2011.

He grew up in London, England and, in 2008, married British anthropologist and television host Mary Ann Ochota .

Literary critics have compared his work to that of fellow English suspense writer Anthony Horowitz .
