ABOUT JOEL POLIS

Star of Off-Broadway productions who became a popular guest actor in numerous television shows and films.

He joined the circus, before going to New York to earn his MFA at Yale Drama School after studying at the University of Southern California's School of Theatre.

In addition to on-screen roles, he performed at the Old Globe Theater, Mark Taper Forum, and in regional theaters.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He played Gary, a rival bar owner to Sam Malone's ( Ted Danson ) Cheers bar.
