ABOUT JOHN JAKES
An American writer of historical fiction, he is best known for The Kent Family Chronicles and the North and South Trilogy. He is also known for his Brak the Barbarian science fiction series.
After studying creative writing at DePauw University, he earned a master's degree in literature from The Ohio State University.
He was a member of the Swordsmen and Sorcerers' Guild of America (SAGA).
With his wife, Rachel, he had four children.
He and Harry Turtledove are both known for their works of historical fiction.
