ABOUT JOHN NICHOLS
Best known for his New Mexico novels, The Milagro Beanfield War, The Magic Journey, and The Nirvana Blues, this popular American author also published such titles as The Sterile Cuckoo and The Wizard of Loneliness, both of which were adapted into films.
He published his first novel, The Sterile Cuckoo, in 1965.
He wrote several nonfiction works, including If Mountains Die: A New Mexico Memoir and A Fragile Beauty: John Nichols' Milagro Country.
A native of Berkeley, California, he later settled in Taos, New Mexico.
Robert Redford directed a film version of Nichols' 1974 novel The Milagro Beanfield War.
