ABOUT JOHN HEATH STUBBS

British poet and translator who is best known for a 1972 poem entitled "Artorius." His numerous poetry collections include The Swarming of the Bees, Time Pieces, and Sweet-Apple Earth.

He studied at Queen's College, Oxford. He published his debut poetry collection, Wounded Thammuz, in 1942.

His poetry was the subject of a 1997 documentary film directed by Carlos Klein.

He and his parents lived in Paris and London up until the 1925 birth of his brother, at which point the family moved to Hampshire.

He translated the work of Giacomo Leopardi into English.
