ABOUT JOHNNY OTIS
Considered by many to be the Godfather of Rhythm and Blues, Otis was an R&B singer, composer, and musician who recorded the #1 hit "Willie and the Hand Jive" in 1958.
He began playing music when he was a teenager, acquiring a set of drums. His first band was the West Oakland Houserockers.
He had his own radio show in Berkeley, California.
He married his wife Phyllis in 1941.
He was the father of Shuggie Otis .
