ABOUT JOY DAVIDMAN
The wife of writer C.S. Lewis , she was an accomplished author in her own right. Her works include Smoke on the Mountain: An Interpretation of the Ten Commandments in Terms of Today (1954) and Weeping Bay (1950).
A child prodigy, she graduated from high school at age fourteen. She subsequently attended Hunter College and Columbia University.
After her death, C.S. Lewis wrote about her in his memoir, A Grief Observed, which he published under a pseudonym.
She and her second husband, C.S. Lewis , contributed to each other's literary work. She had previously been married to William Lindsay Gresham, another notable author.
Debra Winger portrayed Davidman in Shadowlands, a film based on Davidman's life with C.S. Lewis.
