ABOUT JUANA DE IBARBOUROU
Popular Uruguayan poet whose work is notable for its nature imagery, feminism, and eroticism. Her best-known works include Raiz salvaje, Oro y tormenta, and Obras completas.
She began her studies at the Jose Pedro Varela School in 1899.
Her numerous literary honors include the Order of the Quetzal and the Gold Medal of Francisco Pizarro.
She had one son, Julio, with her husband, Lucas Ibarbourou.
She inspired the work of Jorge Guillen and other poets.
