ABOUT JUHAN SMUUL
Author who became the official writer of the Estonian Soviet regime. His most famous travelogue, The Frozen Book, describes an Antarctic expedition.
He was awarded the Stalin Prize for Literature in 1952.
He wrote four screenplays, including Metskapten and Keskpaevane Praam.
He was born and raised in a village on the island of Muhu.
He was a contemporary of American writer Norman Mailer .
