ABOUT JULES OLITSKI
Abstract painter and printmaker whose later work mainly featured skyscrapers and landscapes. A professor at Bennington College from 1963 until 1967.
He was awarded a scholarship to the Pratt Institute and also studied at the National Academy of Design and the Beaux Arts Institute. His first exhibition was held in 1951 at the Galerie Huit in Paris.
His work was collected by The Museum of Fine Art in Boston.
His father was a commissar who was executed by the Soviet government while Jules was still young. He married Joan Olitski in 1980.
He admired the work of Willem De Kooning .
