ABOUT JULIO CORTAZAR

Argentine novelist, short story writer, and essayist best known for his association with the literary group the Latin American Boom. He is best recognized for his novels Rayuela, Los Premios, and Book of Manuel.

Beginning his career as an elementary school teacher, he later studied philosophy and languages at the University of Buenos Aires. He went on to publish his first novel Book of Manuel in 1973.

In addition to his novels, stories, and poetry, he is also known for having published a graphic novel in 1975 entitledĀ Fantomas Against the Multinational Vampires.

While he was born in Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium, his parents were Argentine citizens.

His story LasĀ  Babas del Diablo was the inspiration for Michelangelo Antonioni 's feature film Blowup.
