ABOUT JULIO GUZMáN

Peruvian politician and economist who is best recognized for being the leader of the Purple Party. He is also recognized for having previously ran for President in 2016 under the All for Peru political party.

He attended the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru where he studied economics and started his career teaching mathematics. He then went on to Georgetown University and University of Oxford before completing his PhD at the University of Maryland . His career in politics started in 2010 when he worked as a deputy minister in Peru's Ministry of Labor. He was appointed to secretary general of Peru's Cabinet in 2012.

He is also known for having worked as a representative of the international firm Deloitte in Peru.

He was born and raised in Lima, Peru and married Michelle Ertischek in 2011. He has three daughters.

He was second to political Presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori during the 2016 Presidential campaign and election.
