He started his career playing with FC Lewenborg before moving to Groningen in 2006. He played with Groningen at the youth level until he graduated to their senior team in 2015.

He played with the Dutch national team at the U18, U20, and U21 levels. He began playing with the Curaçao national squad in 2019.

He was born in Groningen in the Netherlands to parents of Curaçao descent. He is the younger brother of Leandro Bacuna who has played with Cardiff City.

He and Dele Adebola have both played for Birmingham City.
