She learned to sew and was interested in fashion, costume design, set design, photography and food styling. In high school, she braided people's hair on the school bus. She worked as a receptionist at a salon.

She worked as a stylist for Project Runway . She judged the North American Hairstyling Awards. She gave North West rainbow braids for her sixth birthday party. Her work has been featured in fashion publications such as Glamour, Allure, Elle and InStyle.

Her partner is a yoga instructor. They welcomed their first child in March of 2021. They have a mini Goldendoodle named Cashew.
