She married Bollywood star Dev Anand and appeared in Taxi Driver in 1954 and Baazi in 1951.

A beauty contest victory caught the attention of a fledgeling film company. After some negotiation, she moved to Bombay to act.

She met her future husband Dev when she went to work for Navketan Films. He was the younger brother of its founder.

She had two children with Dev Anand .

She was married to Dev Anand until his death in 2011.
