ABOUT KARAN SINGH

This Indian National Congress Party leader held office as Governor of India's Jammu and Kashmir state and went on to serve in the Rajya Sabha house of the Indian Parliament.

After graduating from Sri Pratap College Srinagar, he earned graduate political science degrees from Delhi University.

He was the 2005 recipient of the prestigious Padma Vibhushan honor.

He was born in Cannes, France, to Jammu and Kashmir ruler Hari Singh.

He and Omar Abdullah both represented Jammu and Kashmir in the Indian Parliament; Abdullah served in the lower house and Singh in the upper.
