His parents are Michael H. Balka and Kristy Dotson. He and Josie married in October 2018 and had their first child together in the summer of 2019. They welcomed their second child, Hazel Sloane, in June of 2021. In August 2023, they announced they were expecting their third child together. They welcomed their son Miles in February 2024. In April 2025, they revealed they were expecting their fourth child.
