ABOUT KEVIN MCCLATCHY

Former owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, which he purchased in 1996 and presided over as CEO and lead owner until 2007.

He was an alumnus of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, New York.

He oversaw the newspaper publishing company The McClatchy Company and owned the minor-league baseball team the Modesto A's.

He grew up in Sacramento with his family. He revealed that he was gay in a 2012 New York Times interview.

He never presided over a winning Pirates season, leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers, under the leadership of Bill Cowher , to carry the Steel City's sports fervor and devotion during that time.
