She became interested in working in medicine after the death of her mother. She has over 270,000 followers on her iamkouka Instagram account where she shares life updates from her family and career.

Raised between Hong Kong and Tokyo, she began modeling at 11 and spent her teens traveling the world for fashion weeks in Milan and Paris. After years in the fashion industry, she pursued a degree in nutrition at NYU and built a career as a clinical nutritionist in New York.

She earned her Bachelor's in nutrition and Dietetics and Master's of Science in Clinical Nutrition from New York University . When she's not hitting the books, she shares content focused on food, wellness, fashion, and daily life

Her sister is an Infectious Disease Physician. She lives in Manhattan with her husband Jake.
