Famous for her Tamil Nadu State Film Award-winning comedic performances in Uliyin Osai, Sathi Leelavathi, and Poovellam Un Vasam, Sarala is also known for her appearances on a reality television stand-up comedy program called Asathapovathu Yaaru?
Her early films include Mundhanai Mudichu, Velli Ratham, and Vaidhegi Kaathirunthaal.
She earned a Vijay Comedy Award for her work in the 2011 film Muni 2: Kanchana.
She was born and raised in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, in a family of the Malayali ethnic group.
