Punjabi singer known for his work in the "Kali" subgenre. He released his first LP, Ik Tara, in 1976.
He was an excellent young hockey player and got his start singing with the two-piece Harcharan Grewal and Seema.
He branched out into politics, running unsuccessfully as an Independent in the 1996 parliamentary elections.
He has a son named Yudhvir who is also a singer.
He contributed songs to the 1983 movie "Sassi Punnu", which starred actress Asha Bhosle .
