Known for her international hit single "Cut Your Teeth" and for her 2014 album of the same title, she's written and performed music in the electronica, pop, and folk genres.
Five years after completing her study of philosophy at Pembroke College, Cambridge, she released her debut album Ashes.
Her original songs were featured in episodes of the British television series Glue and the American series Beauty and the Beast.
The daughter of a South African mother and a Zimbabwean father, she was born and raised in England. She has a younger brother.
Kygo remixed "Cut Your Teeth" a few months after it was first released.
