Japanese musician and songwriter most famous for being the frontman for the visual kei metal band Dir En Grey. He is known to fans for his outlandish live performances, which often include heavy makeup and acts of self-harm.
He has been a vocalist for the alternative rock band La:Sadie's. He was inspired to pursue music after seeing a photograph of Buck-Tick vocalist Atsushi Sakurai .
He has released the poetry collections Shikkaku and For the Human Race.
His real name is Nishimura Tooru.
He joined guitarist Kaoru in Dir En Grey in 1997.
