Guitarist and vocalist who became known for her work with the English alternative band Stereolab, which she founded with Tim Gane in 1990. She has also pursued a solo career, releasing her third album, Something Shines, in 2014.
She was working as a nanny when she met her future collaborator Time Gane in the 1980s.
She sang backing vocals for the hit 1994 Blur song "To The End."
She had a child, Alex, with her former lover and collaborator Tim Gane.
She sang the chorus on the 2002 Common song "New Wave."
