French actor who has gained international fame for playing The Merovingian in The Matrix Reloaded , The Matrix Revolutions and The Matrix 4 . He is also notable for his activism in support of environmental conservation and poverty eradication.
He studied acting at the Drama Center London. He made his first feature film appearance in the 1977 period drama Julia.
In 2018, he traveled to Brazil and French Guyana in support of a Greenpeace effort to protect the Amazon reef.
His father Georges Wilson was a film and television actor.
He played a starring role opposite Sean Connery in the 1982 romantic drama Five Days One Summer.
