ABOUT LEAH PURCELL
Movie and TV actress and director who is best known for her roles in Lantana, The Drovers Wife which she also wrote, and Wentworth . She directed and wrote Black Chicks Talking, a documentary then book and art exhibit, that won a 2002 Inside Film award.
One of seven children of aboriginal and white Australian descent, she had a rough upbringing that inspired her to move to Brisbane and join the community theater.
At the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours, Purcell was awarded as a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service in the arts.
She is married to Bain Stewart with whom she has a daughter and two grandchildren.
