He won his club debut game with D.C. United by setting up an assist for Fabian Espindola for a 1-0 win against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

He was born Luciano Acosta in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been nicknamed La joya (aka The Jewel).

He and Leonardo Jara are both Argentine footballers who have played for the Boca Juniors.
