Luke Prokop

ABOUT LUKE PROKOP

Professional defenseman that signed with the Nashville Predators in 2020. He has represented Canada's national team as a member of their under-18 ice hockey team during the 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships.

As a teenager, he attended the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy in Kelowna, British Columbia. Prior to being selected 73rd overall in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, he played on the Western Hockey League as a member of Calgary Hitmen.

On July 19, 2021, he made NHL History as the first professional hockey player to come out as gay.

He is a native of Edmonton, Alberta. His older brother, Josh Prokop, is also a professional hockey player.

He has credited Shea Weber as being his biggest influence in hockey.
