ABOUT MARGRET REY
German-born children's author who is known for co-writing the classic Curious George books with her husband, H.A. Rey . She also illustrated the books. Also a philanthropist, she made major contributions to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Boston Public Library and created the Curious George Foundation to help children and abused animals.
Her best-known character, Curious George, was an outgrowth of one of her earliest works, Cecily G. and the Nine Monkeys.
Her trouble-making monkey, Curious George, inspired television shows, films, and video games.
She was born in Hamburg, Germany. She met her husband and Curious George co-author, Hans Augusto Rey, in Brazil, where both were refugees of German Nazism.
Elizabeth Daily was one of the voice actors who worked on the PBS cartoon version of Curious George.
