Folk and blues singer whose song "Midnight at the Oasis" sold millions of copies in 1974. She has been nominated for honors like Grammy Awards in the Blues Category.

She started out in the Even Dozen Jug Band.

She sang backup vocals for the Jerry Garcia band in the 1970s.

She married Geoff Muldaur in 1964; they got divorced in 1972.

One of her first hits was a cover of a song by Peggy Lee called "I'm a Woman."
