ABOUT MARIA QAMAR
Visual artist also known as Hatecopy whose pop art inspired by South Asian culture has helped her land on the cover of Elle Canada and amass an Instagram following of more than 170,000. Much of her work was compiled in the successful book Trust No Aunty (2017).
She moved from Pakistan to Mississauga, Ontario, Canada when she was nine years old. She worked as a copywriter at an ad agency before becoming a full-time artist.
Her art was featured in the Mindy Kaling comedy The Mindy Project .
Both of her parents are chemists.
Among her celebrity fans are Kal Penn and Hasan Minhaj .
