ABOUT MARK VAN DOREN
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, author, and scholar whose best-known works include Collected Poems: 1922-1938 and A Liberal Education. He was the 1967 recipient of an Academy of American Poets Fellowship.
He attended the University of Illinois and Columbia University. He published his first poetry collection, Spring Thunder, in 1924.
He frequently discussed literature on the CBS radio program, "Invitation to Learning."
With his wife, Dorothy Graffe Van Doren, he had two children.
He had a long-lasting written correspondence with United States Poet Laureate Allen Tate .
