Mark Drakeford
ABOUT MARK DRAKEFORD
Politician who built his career in the Welsh Labour Party. His first elected position began in 2011 when he became a Member of the Senedd for Cardiff West. He served as the Minister for Health and Social Services from 2013 to 2016. In 2016, he went on to the become the Cabinet Secretary for Finance. He held that position until 2018, when he was elected the First Minister of Wales.
He attended the University of Exeter and the University of Kent, where he studied Latin. Before entering political life, he held teaching positions at the University College of Swansea and the University of Wales, Cardiff.
He has also worked as a probation officer, a social worker, and a youth justice worker. His markdrakefordwales Instagram account showcases his career highlights and his political initiatives. He has amassed 9,000 followers.
He married Clare Buckle in 1977. They have three children.
He endorsed Jeremy Corbyn in 2015.
