English actress and singer who appeared in the film Love Actually and became a household name in the United Kingdom for her role on the BBC's EastEnders. She has appeared in over 450 episodes of television throughout her career.
She appeared during her childhood years in several advertisements and also won a part in Bluebirds, a BBC children's series that aired in the late 1980s.
She won the 2002 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Eliza Doolittle in the National Theatre's production of My Fair Lady. In 2018, she played Gertrude Roberts in the comedy The Bromley Brothers.
She married singer Jack McManus in 2012. The couple has one son, Rafferty Jack McManus.
She co-starred with Hugh Grant in Love Actually.
