ABOUT MARY OLIVER
Pulitzer Prize-winning nature poet who is known for American Primitive, Dream Work, and other collections. She became one of the top-selling poets of her generation.
She attended Ohio State University and Vassar college. She published her debut poetry collection, No Voyage and Other Poems, when she was twenty-eight years old.
She won a National Book Award in 1992 for her New and Selected Poems. In 1984, she won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for American Primitive.
She was born in Ohio and spent much of her adult life in Massachusetts with her long-time partner, Molly Malone Cook.
She was influenced by the poetry of Walt Whitman .
