ABOUT MATT HEAFY
Guitarist and lead vocalist for the heavy metal band Trivium. He's also performed with a music group called Capharnaum.
Before picking up the guitar at age twelve, he played the saxophone.
He and Trivium's former producer joined the metal band Capharnaum together.
The son of a Japanese mother, he spent the first year of his life in Japan. He ultimately grew up in Florida. In 2010, he married Ashley Heafy. They have twins named Mia and Akira.
Metallica frontman James Hetfield was one of Heafy's major musical influences.
