He was a protege of jazz dancer and choreographer Jack Cole .
He starred in the 1954 musical film version of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He married Martine Limeul in 1981.
He and Howard Keel both performed in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
