German actor who has earned international acclaim for his performances in films like 2003's Soloalbum and 2015's Der Nanny. He is also the director of films like 2011's What a Man and 2013's Schlussmacher.
He studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts for one year before dropping out.
His film Schlussmacher earned him the German Film Award for German Film of the Year.
He is the son of theatre actors Gitta Schweighöfer and Michael Schweighöfer. He has a daughter named Greta and a son named Valentin with Angelika Ani Schromm.
He was directed by Wolfgang Petersen in the 2016 crime comedy Four Against the Bank .
