Played the role of Adric from 1980 to 1982 on the BBC smash sensation Doctor Who . This led to a number of other appearances on British series such as To Serve Them All My Days.

Before landing a role in Doctor Who, he was an avid fan of the show.

He has appeared in a number of Shakespeare productions including: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Macbeth, and Hamlet.

He wrote in his memoir that he is a gay man.

He appeared in the BBC show Top of the Pops with Dave Lee Travis .
