ABOUT MAURICE DE VLAMINCK
French painter associated with the Fauve movement and known for "At the Bar," "Man Smoking a Pipe," both from 1900, and other works.
He became more interested in visual art during his teens and served as an apprentice to painter Henri Rigalon.
He was inspired by the Impressionist movement and particularly by the monochrome work of Cezanne.
He was raised by musical parents and played the violin as a child. He married Suzanne Berly in 1894.
He was influenced by Vincent Van Gogh .
