ABOUT MAY MILLER
African-American poet and playwright associated with the Harlem Renaissance. Her poetry collections include Dust of Uncertain Journey and The Ransomed Wait; her dramas include Stragglers in the Dust and Nails and Thorns.
She attended Howard University, American University, and Columbia University.
Her play The Bog Guide was published in 1925.
She was one of five children born to Kelly and Anna May Miller.
She influenced the work of fellow African-American poet Rita Dove .
