Michael Hammond
ABOUT MICHAEL HAMMOND
American author and academic who headed the linguistics department at the University of Arizona and published articles and books on such topics as psycholinguistics, phonology, and typology.
He earned his bachelor's, master's, and PhD degrees in linguistics from the University of California-Los Angeles.
He is perhaps best known for his research on poetic meter.
He began teaching at the University of Arizona in 1999.
During the early 1980s, he briefly studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where linguistics pioneer Noam Chomsky taught for many years.
