ABOUT MICHAEL STIPE
Socio-political activist and lead singer for the alternative rock group R.E.M. , best known for such hits as "Losing my Religion," "Everybody Hurts," and "It's the End of the World as We Know it (And I Feel Fine)."
He worked at a Waffle House before enrolling at the University of Georgia . He was an art major.
He wrote all the lyrics to R.E.M.'s highly successful albums Automatic for the People (1992) and Out of Time (1991).
He was in a relationship with novelist Douglas A. Martin in 1999. He later began a relationship with photographer Thomas Dozol.
He and Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain had plans to work on a project together before Cobain's death.
