American film and television actor who was known for his role as Doc on the CBS western series, Gunsmoke in 1955. He also starred in the series, Climax! in 1958.
He started acting on screen in the 1930s and was featured in the series of Tailspin Tommy adventures.
He was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma.
He was married to Jane Garrison from 1939 to 1940.
