He began his soccer career playing for the Beerschot Football Club youth team.

In 2017, he became the youngest player in Benfica and Champions League history to play goalie in a match.

He and his girlfriend, June, began dating in October 2020.

He broke Iker Casillas ' former Champions League record on October 18, 2021.
