Morton Marcus
ABOUT MORTON MARCUS
American poet and author known for Big Winds, Glass Mornings, Shadows Cast by Stars; When People Could Fly; Where the Oceans Cover us, and other poetry collections. His prose works include The Brezhnev Memo (novel) and Striking Through The Masks (memoir).
He grew up in New York City and served briefly in the United States Air Force. Later, he moved to California.
He published eleven volumes of poetry and over five hundred individual poems.
He was married to Donna Mekis and had two daughters.
An annual literary event called the Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Reading was created in his honor. Robert Hass was the poet featured at the 2010 reading in Santa Cruz, California.
