Most well known as the mother of actress Jennifer Aniston , she also pursued an acting career, appearing in episodes of The Wild Wild West and The Beverly Hillbillies.
She and her five sisters grew up in New York City in a family of Italian, Greek, Irish, and Scottish heritage.
She published a 1999 memoir titled From Mother and Daughter to Friends.
Her first marriage, to musician Jack Melick, resulted in a son named John. She and her second husband, actor John Aniston , welcomed their daughter, Jennifer Aniston , in 1969.
Following a nearly decade-long estrangement, she and her daughter reconciled after actor Brad Pitt left Aniston and became involved with Angelina Jolie .
