American country music singer known for his top ten hit songs, including "Sweet Thang" and "Take Time to Love Her."
He graduated with a degree in radio and television from Arlington State College and worked as a radio announcer on many radio stations.
He owned the booking agency Music Row Talent Inc., which he ran for twelve years.
He grew up with his family in Cass Country, Texas.
He co-wrote Buck Owens ' 1965 #1 hit song, "Waitin' in Your Welfare Line."
