ABOUT NICHOLAS CRANE
Explorer, geographer, television presenter, and author whose most famous work, Clear Waters Rising, was published in 1996. He also hosted several BBC2 television series, including Coast and Map Man.
He studied geography at Cambridgeshire College of Arts & Technology.
His 1987 book, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, details his discovery of the Eurasian pole of inaccessibility.
He was raised in Norfolk, England. He and his wife, Annabel Huxley, had three children.
He was a contemporary of fellow English explorer Ranulph Fiennes .
